How to Set a Discount for a Category in WooCommerce Without Using a Product Plugin

If you are a WooCommerce store owner, you may want to set a discount for a specific category of your products. However, many guides and tutorials will ask you to install a plugin to achieve this. In this article, we will show you how to set a discount for a category in your WooCommerce shop without using a product plugin and just by utilizing WooCommerce's built-in feature.

Selecting the Category

Firstly, you need to choose the category that you want to apply a discount to. In this video tutorial that we are following, the category used is 'Raw'. You can select the category from the WooCommerce control panel by going to Products > Categories and selecting it from the list.

Selecting Products for Discount

After selecting the desired category, you should see all the products in that category. Select all the products that you want to apply the discount to by ticking the checkboxes beside them. If you want a specific discount on certain products, you can select them individually instead of an entire category.

Applying Discount

Once you have selected the products that require a discount, click on the 'Bulk Actions' dropdown and select 'Edit'. Press the 'Apply' button. Then, click on the 'Price' tab. Here you can set the discount you want to offer on the selected products.

Sales Price vs Regular Price

For this tutorial, we want to apply a sales price discount. But as we don't want to change the regular price, we need to choose a different option. The option we need to choose is 'Set a Regular Price' and then select 'Decrease by a fixed amount or percentage'. You can set the discount percentage you want to offer here. Once you've entered the percentage, click on the 'Update' button.

Removing Discount

After applying the discount, you may want to remove it at a later stage. To do this, you need to select the products under the category again and then follow the same steps as before. However, this time, you need to change the discount percentage to zero.

Additional Tip
