How to Find Low Competition Keywords on Etsy using Search Operators

Welcome back to our article. If you are an Etsy seller, you know how crucial it is to find the right keywords for your products to gain visibility and sales. In this article, we will discuss how to find low competition keywords on Etsy using search operators.

What are Search Operators?

Search operators are advanced Google search commands that allow you to search specifically for certain types of content. By using search operators, we can conduct a Google search directly into Etsy's search bar and get more accurate results.

Using Search Operators to Find Low Competition Keywords on Etsy

  1. Start by typing "site:etsy.com Market" into the Google search bar. This will only show us results that are Etsy search result pages indexed on Google.

  2. Click on "Tools" and select "Any Time" and then "Past Month" to only see Etsy search result pages that have started ranking in the last month.

  3. Note the number of results on the page. For example, "Results 1 to 40 of 77". We will use this information in the next step.

  4. Use the search operator "site:etsy.com Market in text 1 to 40 (or any number you choose) of [random number] results". This will limit your search to Etsy pages with only a specific number of results.

  5. Use a free VPN service like TunnelBear and open a new incognito window to conduct your search and see the accurate number of results.

  6. Use Google Ads Keyword Planner to check if the keyword has any search volume. Even if it doesn't, it may still be worth using if it is a low competition keyword.

  7. Try finding related keywords by exploring the results from step 4 and using those keywords to search for other low competition options.

  8. Use search operators in tools like "scrape serp" to further refine your results and find low competition keywords. This tool allows you to search by location, time period, and device.

Additional Tips

  • Experiment with different numbers in the "results" search operator to find the number that works best for you.

  • Keep an eye out for "niche" keywords that have low competition but a specific customer base, such as "Karen's Shirt".

  • Use free SVG websites to create unique designs for low competition keywords like "Lemonade Stand SVG".

  • Be patient with the process and don't be afraid to try new things to find the best keywords for your shop.

By following these tips, you can find low competition keywords on Etsy that will help you stand out and gain more sales. Good luck!

How to Build a Spreadsheet of Low Competition Etsy Keywords

Are you struggling to find low-competition keywords for your Etsy store? Look no further! In this article, we will show you how to quickly and easily build a spreadsheet of low competition Etsy keywords using an API request and Google Sheets.

Steps to Build a Spreadsheet of Low Competition Etsy Keywords

  1. First, make sure you stay "in" during the process. By this, we mean that you should not switch tabs or close the window while the download is taking place, or you will lose your progress. So, patience is the key here.

  2. Start by finding a handful of Etsy long-tail keywords that you want to target.

  3. Go to the Etsy search bar and enter one of the longer-tail keywords you found.

  4. Notice how Etsy autofills some other keywords, that's what we'll target next.

  5. Click on one of the suggested keywords. In the URL, you will see a code like this: "search_query=abc&ref=auto-1".

  6. Change the "1" at the end of the URL to "2" or "3", and hit enter. This will show you more long-tail keywords related to your original search.

  7. To get even more keywords, go to https://etsy.com/search/suggested and repeat the process, incrementing the number at the end of the URL.

  8. Now, copy all of these keywords into a CSV file. It should start downloading automatically.

  9. Open a Google Sheet, upload the CSV file, and start cleaning the data.

  10. To clean the data, use the following steps:

    • Click "Control F", then the three buttons that appear next to it.
    • In the toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen, type "hyphen Etsy" and replace with nothing. This will make the data easier to read.
  11. Finally, go through the list of keywords and find the ones that are most relevant to your Etsy niche. For instance, if you're selling t-shirts, search for the keyword "shirt" and see what comes up.

Additional Tips

  • Keep in mind that keywords with fewer results don't always indicate low competition. Instead, focus on keywords that Etsy suggests and those related to your niche.
  • You can also use tools like Google AdWords Keyword Planner or SEMrush to find low competition Etsy keywords.
  • Experiment with different long-tail keywords and test which ones work best for your store.

With these steps, you can create a spreadsheet of low competition Etsy keywords and boost your store's visibility. As always, remember to keep your content relevant and high-quality. Good luck!
